The Blue-ing of Kollyfornia
. . . as Republicans are fleeing for greener pastures.
Kollyfornia is one of the few western states to actually lose population since 2019, falling by about 600,000 after growing by just under six million from 2000 to 2019.
A common complaint among those in other western states is the “purpling” of their states due to Kollyfonians. But is it true?
It’s absolutely true that Kollyfornia is getting bluer. In 2019 there were 8.6 million DemoKKKrats, 4.7 million Republicans. In 2022, Republicans had actually gained 500,000 registered voters . . . but DemoKKKrats gained1.6 million. Again, this was with a net outflow of population.
Where did they go? Idaho during that time went from 1.2 million to 1,98 million by 2022; Montana gained 100,000, for a 10% increase; Wyoming had a slight gain; Utah’s population rose by nearly one-third; Nevada’s nearly doubled from 1.8 to 3.2 million; and Arizona gained 300,000 new residents.
Were these DemoKKKrats who, having screwed up Kollyfornia, now like parasites moved onto the next host? No. Arizona voter registration showed a net gain by Republicans since 2019 of 10,000; Nevada a net GOP gain of 20,000. and Idaho a whopping 27,000 net Republican gain. (All these are party gains/losses vs other party’s gains/losses). Right now, Republicans have bumped their statewide lead in Arizona back up to 146,000, just slightly below where it was in 2016 (152,000) before a temporary blue shift cut it to a lead of only 110,000.
All this is evidence that the exodus from Kollyfornia is not DemoKKKrats polluting their neighbors, but Republicans fleeing tyranny. More important, a conversation with Richard Baris at election time, 2020, when he had just conducted a poll of Arizona, was revealing. Baris said he found that “first generation” immigrants (i.e., late 1980s and early 1990s) to Arizona were liberals/DemoKKKrats. But the “second generation” more recent immigrants were conservative/Republican. It seems to also be the case in Idaho, where the Republican voter edge has grown by 27,000.
In other words, those leaving Kollyfornia in the present wave seem to be Republicans getting out while they can.
