Like the Federalists, modern DemoKKKrats are tone deaf and politically corrupt

A major debate ensued in the early 1800s between the rising Jeffersonian Republican party and the dying Federalist Party. It centered on expansion of the Union, most notably over adding the Louisiana Purchase territory. Federalist Fisher Ames of Massachusetts warned that “by adding an unmeasured world beyond [the Mississippi River] we rush like a comet into infinite space.” In part, the Federalists’ stodginess and reluctance to add new territory and bring in new voters from the West sealed their doom as a party.
