PAM BONDI STEPPED IN IT
Or . . . did she?
The internet was all aflame today about Pam Bondi’s comment that “hate speech” would not be tolerated, implying that the gubment was going to crack down on “hate speech.” Of course, virtually all conservatives (including the lying wolves in sheep’s clothing such as David Frenchfry, who never had a principle in his life) exploded.
More important, they and the left AGREED! This cannot stand! The implication was that there would be immediate moves to ban all “hate speech laws.” Wait, what?
For 20 years, conservatives have been rightly opposing such laws. Indeed, if they could have, the left would have used such laws to go after Charlie Kirk. But now, because Bondi said it, both sides are in agreement such laws should be eliminated. Imagine that.
Bondi also called out Office Depot for the employee who refused to make Charlie Kirk memorial flyers, implying the gubment could do something about that. Yet just a few years ago, the right was complaining that the gubment should not be allowed to force a Christian baker to bake a “wedding” cake for homosexuals. Once again, the left jumped on the “freedom of the entrepreneur” position.
In two short comments, Bondi managed to do something conservative pundits and legislators had been unable to do for 20 years: get a “concensus” on wider free speech and freedom of business laws. Weird, huh?
Today, Bondi “clarified,” saying
*Hate speech that crosses the line into threats of violence is NOT protected by the First Amendment. It’s a crime. For far too long, we’ve watched the radical left normalize threats, call for assassinations, and cheer on political violence. That era is over. Under 18 U.S.C. § 875(c), it is a federal crime to transmit “any communication containing any threat to kidnap any person or any threat to injure the person of another.” Likewise, 18 U.S.C. § 876 and 18 U.S.C. § 115 make it a felony to threaten public officials, members of Congress, or their families. You cannot call for someone’s murder. You cannot swat a Member of Congress. You cannot dox a conservative family and think it will be brushed off as “free speech.
Now, I no longer believe in 4D chess. I have no idea if Bondi intended to do this. But just the same, it will be very hard for libs to object to removal of “hate speech” laws if they think they, in fact, will be charged with “hate speech.” Remember, the the main purpose of such laws was to shut down such powerful voices as Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. Yet now they are backed into a corner of supporting the elimination of such laws.
So, is “Barbie” Bondi dumb? Or dumb like a fox? I don’t know yet.
Remember the great Pittsburgh Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw? Dallas Cowboys linebacker who played against Bradshaw in the Super Bowl once said Bradshaw was so dumb that he “can’t spell CAT if you spotted him the C and the A.” Bradshaw beat Henderson’s Cowboys, in no small part because he was smart enough to pick apart their excellent defense.
A historical example here is appropos, though not entirely perfect. In 1828, the tariff was a major issue. The new DemoKKKrat Party opposed it, former Federalists and other northerners (there was no Whig, let alone Republican, Party yet) were for it.
Southerners, led by South Carolina Senator John C. Calhoun thought they came up with a crafty trick: they would write a tariff whose rates were so high even the northern delegations would have to vote against it. Except when the bill came up, northerners said, “Well, in principle we believe in tariffs so we’ll support this.” “WAIT A MINUTE!” the southerners cried. “You can’t do that!” to which northerners said, “Dude, it’s YOUR BILL we are supporting.” Even a frantic Calhoun voted against his own bill!
To some extent, that is what is happening. Whether deliberate or by tripping through word salad, Bondi now has made every DemoKKKrat support a law to remove hate speech laws!
Which raises the question again: is Bondi dumb? Her DOJ has won every single one of Trump’s cases to reach higher disposition save one. That’s a record of something like 24/25 at this point. No other AG in history has such a record, let alone one in six months. Yet, as conservatives rightly complain, we have seen no indictments, let alone arrests, let alone perp walks by a single Russia Hoaxer, a single illegitimate J6 (Patriot Day) committee member, or any of those funding terror, beginning with George Soros.
Is this incompetence? Maybe. Is it something else? Maybe. We aren’t privy to the conversations between President Trump and Bondi/Kash Patel. We don’t know what he prioritized. It may well be that he said early on, “Pam, yes, go after these people who tried to frame me, put me in jail, and steal an election. But your first priority is to ensure that every one of my agenda items gets by these crazy judges.”
Or what if it’s both: what if in fact she isn’t very good at all at “getting people” but is really good at winning on the legal side? Let me use another football analogy. Micah Parsons was just traded from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Cheesers. Acknowledged as one of the best pass rushers in the game, Parsons is also known to be a liability against the run. His aggressiveness to run upfield after the QB frequently puts him out of position against the run. Which do you need? A guy who can stop the run or a guy who can rush the passer? Both are necessary, but each team has priorities.
So the question remains unanswered: Is Bondi dumb, incapable of going after the Deep State bad guys? Is she dumb like a fox in forcing them into indefensible positions? Is she following Trump’s priorities? Or a little of each?
To this point, we only have one sure thing to go on: President Trump has not criticized her the way he criticized Jeff Sessions or Christopher (Smarmy) Wray.
