ON THE NUMEROUS RESIGNATIONS

The pundits, as usual, are missing it.

This week (as they call her) “rising star” Elise Stefanek announced that not only would she not run for NY Governor, but she won’t even stay in the House. So far, 30 Rs (counting her) will retire—-MTG in January, so as to be the biggest pain in the butt she could be—-and 22 Ds. Virtually all of the Rs are in safe red districts. I think the latest assessment is that Rs right now are around 212-213, Ds at 208, and 5-10 “tossups” depending on how you count some of those seats. But we haevn’t seen the end of redistricting. If IN doesn’t redistrict and MD does, Ds could be around 210 safe.
